For once, a movie with heart. I really enjoyed this movie and at several points was moved to tears, which does not happen so often these days!

The boy in the movie went through some harrowing experiences as a 9-year-old, but in the end he comes to a deeper understanding of the sacrifice and love of his mother who is working hard to provide a better life for him.

I think a lot of times the children of immigrants have a hard time understanding their parents and exactly what the parents are giving for their children. I think the greatest sacrifice for many immigrant parents is in their willingness to sacrifice their dignity for the sake of providing a living for their familes. I'm grateful to my parents for making sacrifices and working hard to make ends meet, especially the first few years of our life in America.

I hope there will be more compassion and empathy for illegal immigrants in the future of this nation. After all, except for Native Americans, who in this country does not come from immigrant ancestors?
