Review of Under Siege (1986) by Travis M — 14 Oct 2007
What about the cheese? There is plenty to be found in this B movie classic which I include in my top one hundred purely because of Tommy Lee Jonesâ?? portrayal of CIA specialist William Strannix. The hijacking of the warship during the first half of this movie could be almost believable when you consider the extraordinary lengths that the CIA has gone to in order to capture enemy assets in the past.
The film descends into the pit of Ramboesque absurdity as Steven Seagal and his band of amateur soldiers rescue the crew of the Battleship Missouri from supposedly highly professional trained cadres. Jonesâ?? performance as the calculating bad guy is truly a rare thing and makes this movie well worth a viewing on cable TV.
