There have been some solid basketball movies over the years, but really only one that was truly funny in White Men Can't Jump. However, we now have a second that will bring some smiles to your face and laughs from your belly.
Uncle Drew is a film that could've been a cheap money grab, but these folks went to a lot of effort to write and shoot a quality show that is pretty dang funny. I mean you could poke some serious holes in it, but that's ok, because it is meant to be about laughs and fun and some heart.
To me Chris Webber stole the show, and I think we may see him do some real acting down the road. His preacher made me laugh the most in the whole film. Nick Kroll does yet another good bad guy and has plenty of laughs too.
What is interesting is that Uncle Drew himself may be the least likeable of all the characters to me. Anyone who watches or plays basketball will find some joy in this one, if you don't you may not but likely I think you would.
