Review of Uncle Buck (1989) by Elaine M — 26 Nov 2008
A hopelessly average Hughes family comedy, telling the story of Buck (John Candy) who is asked to babysit his brother's children whilst their parents are away. Although it can't be put in the same league as 'The Breakfast Club' or 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off', it's still a cute film which owes its stars to Macauley Culkin, and Jean Louisa Kelly's amazing eyes.
If it had replaced the soppy morals with more comedy, it might have been much more enjoyable, but as it stands, it's just pretty good...
