Review of Uncle Buck (1989) by Ryan V — 26 May 2012
Uncle Buck (John Candy) is a gruff, messy, and crude man who is left to care for three kids while their parents are away. Naturally, the clumsy antics of Buck initially annoy and alienate the children.
However, since this is a lightweight John Hughes comedy, Buck eventually proves his mettle and wins familial affection. This movie doesn't change the world, but it accomplishes what it sets out to do.
Uncle Buck was a childhood favorite of mine and I get a nice shot of nostalgic warmth whenever I give it a fresh viewing.
