OH NO! IT'S...UNCLE BUCK! Everyone loves Uncle Buck!

The family kid's Uncle Buck(John Candy) is crude, crass, and irresponsible. But yet a loveable guy who is asked to care for his brother's three kids (Jean Kelly's Tia, Macaulay Culkin's Miles, and Gaby Hoffman's Maizy), for a few days-with the film subsequently detailing Buck's irreverent at attempts at keeping the trio in line.

Filmmaker John Hughes certainly does a good job of establishing well-drawn characters and off-kilter situation, with Candy's engaging and excellent work going a long way capturing the viewer's interest. However, Uncle Buck is another film Candy tries a little too hard to make the viewer's laugh and the children are unpleasant in some moments and felt a little boring.

Besides, the movie would of been a disaster and different with Danny Devito who Hughes originally considered for the lead role. Candy and Devito both heavy guys and both have different energies, but Uncle Buck was made for Candy through and through. The film would of brought a different side on Devito and if it was a disaster then John Hughes would of never thought about Macaulay Culkin making Home Alone because of his performance in here.

Still, "Uncle Buck" is an agreeable comedy that benefits substantially from Hughes blending laughs and drama.
