Review of Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (2010) by Leighton T — 10 Nov 2011
A simple and beguiling film that definitely does not fit into any of my lines of thinking at all, but manages something profound in its quiet, sombering meanderings. As it moved along, its slow, languid pace, beautiful photography, and strange images made an impression, one that I'm not sure what exactly that is yet.
Still, I think it might be one I might want to watch in the future again for I feel a second viewing will open my eyes moreso to its religious themes and Eastern philosophies that I can't wrap my head around in the immediacy of its first viewing.
