Review of Uncertainty (2009) by Daniel B — 03 May 2010
I had the chance to view this film earlier this week. I have never heard of this film before, but caught my attention when I watched the trailer for it online. It looked interesting and suspenseful. Unfortunately, the film had some cool ideas, but the execution was a little confusing and odd at at times.
The film started out a little slow, but after the coin toss, it got more relevant. I actually enjoyed how the director split the film into two different films -- one representing a set of plot, but that's when the film got confusing.
So were the two stories supposed to tie in together? Also, which happened first? The Yellow or the Green? The film didn't get boring, it was quite suspenseful all throughout, but nothing really changed.
In addition, the cuts between Yellow and Green got a little confusing at times. For example, for Yellow I guess the the characters found a phone that belonged to someone. I think a mob or something, and the mob wants it back.
The characters then turned, gave in, and asked for money for the phone. The plan went back and the mob tried to kill them. As for the Green, I guess the characters were going through different emotional roller coaster.
A little dramatic at times, but again, wasn't sure how Yellow and Green was supposed to tie in together. I was hoping the film would end how the film started -- by a coin toss. But overall, the film had some interesting ideas that were fresh and different.
I think some people might like it solely based on the "freshness" of the film, but it just didn't do it for me. The cuts between Yellow and Green was just too much.
