Review of Uncertainty (2009) by Aj S — 15 Jun 2010
A very original movie, with an original concept. You've got two paralleling stories on one couple, both taking place in 2 different parts in NY. The Brooklyn/Queen story focuses on their choices of telling the people they love that they'll be starting a family of their own.
The Manhattan story takes our young couple on a dangerous path from making 1 bad choice which leads to many others and seeing how they get by without being killed. The movie blends mellodrama with an intense chase thriller very nicely.
It's very hard to explain what this movie was doing, might have to watch it again, but the use of the color green and yellow play a key role in the film. Green, means go, yellow means caution, we're aware of this.
The chase thriller is Yellow, these two try to be cautious from escaping from bad guys and the situation that put them there. The drama is green, deciding whether they should GO ahead and tell the girlfriends family that they're pregnant with a child.
It's all very metaphorical and symbolic that's what I think the movie offers. Along with this interesting storytelling is the beautiful cinematography, it's crisp and clear to an extent where it actually plays an interecal part in the story.
The only downer I came across with this movie was it's ending, it came off a little anti-climatic and somewhat dumb, it didn't leave us with anything worthy. I don't think the filmmakers knew exactly how to end this movie.
