Review of Unbroken: Path to Redemption (2018) by Kristen M — 30 Sep 2018
Ignore the professional Critics. They always hate Christian films. Christian Films are always hard to make. The perception gap between the Gospel text and visual experience are so different. When we sit in church or bible study we're processing the text or hearing the witness talk. But a film has to make us see and interpret the actors action. When a voice over or other device is used to explain what the film fails to achieve. the film is a failure as film.
Unbroken delves into the part of the Louis Zamperini story glossed over by Hillenbrand book. It holds us in the dark depths of Zamperini's addiction and PTSD suffering till we feel a desperation to move on too. Samuel Hunt gives us a credible understanding of his change of heart and effort to change his life at Rev Graham's urging.
