Review of Unbroken (2014) by Luis B — 31 Jan 2015
This could have been a great movie, but its repetitiveness and uninspired storytelling, prevents it from achieving greatness. The story is compelling, but it is not told in a compelling way. The film is way too predictable and despite the thought-provoking themes it hints at, it never even attempts to explore them.
Jack O'Connell gives a fine and subtle performance as does Miyavi; the relationship between their characters is quite interesting, but is not given the necessary depth or development. Overall, it is not disappointing, but calling it memorable would be an exaggeration.
Better luck next time Mrs. Jolie.
