Review of Unbroken (2014) by Sam M — 13 Feb 2015
This is one of those occasions where I must assume that the truth of the actual story was better than the fiction we are given. Jolie's milquetoast and pointless telling of an Olympian's days as a POW in WWII Japan offers nothing new.
It plays with so many tropes in so many genres and has the feeling of being endless. At least it looks really good. Good job, as usual, Deakins...too bad you couldn't save the rest of the movie.
