Review of Unbroken (2014) by Julie T — 20 Oct 2015
A harrowing but authentic feeling biopic of an Olympic athlete who was caught up in the Second World War and found himself in a Japonese prisoner of war camp, which is as far removed from The Great Escape and Colditz as you can get.
Angellina Jolie handles the material with great sophistication, and although a harrowing story you are gripped by the material from beginning to end. I can highly recommend this story of courage and friendship, life affirming and moving in equal measure.
