Review of Unbroken (2014) by Marah R — 20 Dec 2015
This is a very interesting story, but somehow a somewhat unsatisfying film. It is difficult to say exactly where director Angelina Jolie went wrong, but just an overall feeling. The acting is good and the cinematography great, but the film just feels safe.
It covers elements seen many times before on screen, and does nothing new. Everything is almost too perfect, too "Hollywood" if you will. I would've loved to see what a really strong director could have done with this story.
That being said, it is still at least worth a watch to see for the story of the very unique and impressive Louie Zamperini.
