I expected to like this a lot more than I did. I'm a fan of Jack O' Connell's previous movies and the story really appealed to me. However, I felt the relationships were under developed and as a result lacked any kind of emotional depth.
A similar story was tackled in The Railway Man and I felt the audience connected with the lead a lot easier in that movie which made the ending so much more moving. This film was quite a slog to get through which I think was down to the writing and direction of the movie.
