Review of Unbroken (2014) by Steve C — 31 Mar 2017
For such an incredible story, I agree that the film somehow didn't manage to tell it in as compelling a way as it could be. Perhaps being marooned on the ocean and in a POW camp isn't as compelling on film as it could be in a book where most of the drama is interior in his willingness to survive.
Seems like it requires some kind of inner monologue of POV, but that didn't happen. Still interesting and an effort I respect, but wonder what a filmmaker more accomplished than Angeline Jolie would have done with it.
