Review of Unbreakable (2000) by Tohami S — 10 Jan 2014
A film about a survivor of a train disaster who is contacted by a dealer of comic book art, who seems to be telling him he is a real life superhero. One can see, at its inner core, some sort of comic book hero and even super hero movie appeal.
Perhaps, the best way in which unbreakable works best is when seen as a superhero movie at its most intimate and introvert. That is what is surprising about M. Night Shyamalan's work, which in the end is admirable because of this sort of minimalist style with which he approaches the subject.
Nevertheless, it is undoubtedly dull as the story struggles with pace and often seems to run out of steam.
