Review of Unbreakable (2000) by Eric W — 21 Nov 2015
Unbreakable is a fun movie with a good cast that for some reason fails to captivate me. The idea itself is great, and on paper it should be a fantastic movie all things considered, but M. Night Shyamalan's way of telling a story just doesn't resonate with me, and this film is the prime example of that.
The first half of the movie was sluggish at best, the second half was weird and almost felt like a complete 180. I feel like the whole movie was one big pointless exercise, almost like a demo for his other work and less like a movie that stands on its own two feet.
I would say the only way to really understand this movie and its purpose (or lack thereof) is to watch it yourself and see what you take out of it.
