Review of Unbreakable (2000) by Jacob R — 10 Nov 2010
It seems like every day now we hear more and more about superhero movies, The Dark Knight, The Green Lantern, Kick-Ass, X-Men Origins. And I can be the first to say I love superheroes. I love comics, I love video games, I love movies but to say the most Unbreakable must be one of most unique films in the genre I have seen.
An original story by Shyamalan which blows the mind and has a twist at the most perfect moments. And a sense of tenseness that makes your heart pound, I sat and watched this movie and my body would start to tense up as Bruce Willis walked through the house of the stolen house.
One of the greatest things I noticed about the film was the use of the unknown and how Shyamalan could be considered the master of the unknown as we see in scenes such as the train where you can only see one person talking or when we see bruce willis behind the curtain only at certain points because of the wind blowing through the curtains.
One of the other things I did not expect to love was the acting, I normally can not stand Samuel Jackson but this movie made me feel like I was watching a totally different actor as I was caught in the heart of every word that was spoken.
The only down side of the film was the end where what we can not tell must be told in words and seems rushed and even though for any other film that would probably lower the rating I give it, I don't have the heart to lower the tomatometer because of how much I loved this movie.
