Review of Unbreakable (2000) by Dave G — 04 Nov 2018
Unbreakable is a superhero movie made at a time when comic book-inspired films were a rare thing. Its irony-free telling of one man's slow discovery of his own invulnerability forms what usually would be the first third of a superhero origins movie, which means it's light on incident, but Shyamalan's long camera takes do cast a spell, and it's fun to see a film draw on comic book tropes in such a serious way.
