Review of Umberto D. (1952) by Heather H — 03 Aug 2008
Umberto D directed by Vittorio De Sica is a sad albeit ordinary tale of the loss of human values in Italian society after the end of second world war.
The main character is an old man named Umberto Domenico Ferrari who refuses to give up on life.
His only true friend is his dog Flike, and the young, pretty, and pregnant maid.
It is horrible that nobody is willing to help, and this was fifty years ago. It's unfortunate that things are even worse now.
