Review of Ultraviolet (2006) by Leslie D — 04 Mar 2011
Hopelessly overstylised garbage. I'm serious, if there's a movie out there that deserves the "style over substance" tag more than this rubbish then it's got to be something pretty damn special.
Special as in special needs that is. The plot - I don't know, some bollocks about viruses and cyberpunk vampires - it doesn't really matter, after all the focus is firmly on the visuals. Does it at least succeed there though? Well there are some pretty cool ideas with regards to the technology (the "gravity leveler") but there's just too much shit going on - CGI (sometimes good but often terrible), randomness that isn't explained (clothes/hair changing colour) and laughably overblown action that's trying way, waaaaay too hard to be anime.
Terrible.
