Review of Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie (2010) by Cody M — 19 Jan 2011
Underwhelming animated sci-fi flick based on the popular wargame in a group of novice but fanatical space marines are sent to a remote, desolate planet to investigate a distress signal. There, they find themselves battling against the forces of Chaos and a murderous demon.
Clunky animation and overly simplistic story hamper this first introduction to the Warhammer 40K universe, though decent voice acting (led by pros Sean Pertwee, Terence Stamp and John Hurt) makes up for the mostly ubiquitous character design.
Apart from the climatic battle, the battle scenes are chaotic and boring.
