Review of Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie (2010) by John G — 26 Apr 2011
Rome wasn't build in a day. In this context "Ultramarines" should be seen as Warhammer 40k's first official sorte into the cinema realm. While geared towards hardcore fans of the Warhammer 40k universe "Ultramarines" is a land-mark occassion that will hopefully only lead to more productions of increasing talent and breadth (possibly even a move out of the animated universe?).
Though the movie itself fails to give a proportional magnificence of the Space Marines in comparison to the legion of Imperial forces it nontheless touches on many of the aspects familiar to fans.
It is essential that fans support this work in order to increase the reach of the Warhammer 40k universe in both Britain and across the pond. I greatly look forward to Dan Abnett's continued presence in the cinema arena.
