Review of Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie (2010) by Gimly M — 24 Mar 2015
For a company that has some incredible ideas and stories, Games Workshop's Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 movie falls so low on the scale that even fans of their work will cringe during the entirety of the film.
The acting was as good as it could get with the poorly constructed script, and the filming, angles, and visuals were beyond horrid for such an esteemed business of origin.
The animation, although released in 2011, were no better than video game graphics of the 90's; and the filming style resembles that of a brand new teenage machinima film maker (an individual who uses game engines to make short films). Essentially, an unnecessary amount of way-too-overused stereotypical action shots and slow-motion clips that completely take away from the effect of a heart-pounding battle scene.
The pace of the film is so spastic and unappealing that it makes the viewer wonder when the film will finally end.
I have much higher expectations from games workshop, they should know better than to release material such as this.
