Whenever it tries to spoof or reference a movie directly, or whenever "Weird" Al gets into his shtick, it tends to be painfully unfunny. However, the main story is fairly sincere and funny and - along with an early performance from Micheal Richards (Kramer) - makes the movie pretty watchable overall.
