Review of UHF (1989) by Filmgrinder S — 07 Jan 2012
Watching this made me wish Weird Al did ran a local TV station near me. This is a wonderfully crafted full-length movie for Weird Al Yankovicâ(TM)s awesome brand humor. Weird Al makes the jump to movie format quite well and he just as funny here as he is in his music videos and albums.
He has a gift for physical humor, animated facial expressions and slapstick comedy. There are actually a good number of funny people on the cast like Michael Richards, Victoria Jackson, Fran Drescher (in appropriately small doses) and countless other quality role players.
The structure is very loose and the plot is simple but it is all works well to set up a number of gags, spoofs, hilarious TV shows clips, and fake commercials allowing Al and the cast shine.
