Review of UFO (2018) by Nitpicker . — 04 Sep 2018
Writer/director Ryan Eslinger was inspired by the real 2006 Chicago O'Hare International Airport UFO sighting.
On November 7, 2006, a ramp employee was pushing back United 446 when he looked up and saw a dark gray UFO hovering about 1,500 feet off the ground and below the clouds. He alerted the pilot and co-pilot who opened the window and also saw it. One of them leaned out the window and took a photo. They described the object as "dirty aluminum color, very stable, without any optical distortions near it". It was at this time that the FAA's ground controller notified incoming Flight 5668 to "use caution for the, ahhh, UFO". This was the first official FAA mention of the UFO (they would later deny any knowledge of the event).
Two United mechanics were both inside a plane about to taxi to a hanger. They overheard a message from a "flight crew" talking about a "circle or saucer-shaped object hovering over the gate". The mechanics looked out the window and saw the oval UFO hovering about 200 feet below the clouds. "Definitely not a blimp or an airplane as we know it, I know what I saw, it stood out very clearly".
A United manager hears the UFO talk on the radio and he rushes outside his office and sees it. Another employee joined him and said it was "elliptical sphere-like, dark metal".
Federal authorities received a report that a group of 12 airport employees witnessed a metallic, saucer-shaped UFO, hovering over Gate C-17. The object remained visible for several minutes before it suddenly bolted through thick clouds leaving a gaping clear hole in the cloud layer through which it passed. Witness described the object as being about 30 feet in diameter and hovering at around 1,900 feet (just below the cloud base). It did not display any lights. Some said it looked like a Frisbee. All agreed it made no noise and it was in a fixed position in the sky. All the witnesses to the O'Hare event, who included at least several pilots, said they are certain based on the disc's appearance and flight characteristics that it was not an airplane, helicopter, weather balloon or any other craft known to man.
Outside of the airport, there were at least 15 people who saw it from the parking lot.
After the event, employees got tired of being told to shut up about it and told the press what happened. When the press asked United and FAA what happened, they said they didn't know what they were talking about. "There's no record of anything". When a Freedom of Information act is filed, United was suddenly able to find audio tapes between the United tower and United controller proving the event did happen. The transcript can be found online. As far as photos, the ones online cannot be proven.
