Review of U2 3D (2008) by Natalie D — 25 Feb 2008
U2's music is so ubiquitous, and Bono has become such a cliched embodiment of the Rock Star with a capital "RS," that it's easy to forget they are still an absolutely incredible live band.
Unlike many remaining rock acts from the 80's, you never feel like you're watching a nostalgia show with them -- they always seem energetic and relevant, with a big, important message that only makes *more* sense in the vast arenas they play.
This movie really captures the drama of their live show, with sweeping wide-angle shots of the band and their enormous audiences, intense close-ups, and tastefully interspersed bits of animation. See this in a theater with a good sound system, too -- it'll blow your ears out.
