Review of U2 3D (2008) by Roger K — 10 Apr 2008
WOW!!! The previews alone was worth the $12.50. I'd give it 5 more stars if I could, and it's not because I'm such a big U2 fan, but for the 3D itself!!! I was competely blown away by the 3D-ness of the previews for up coming digital 3D movies. This isn't your tradition 3D with the red and blue glasses, this was Digital 3D, IMAX quality! I'm still in awe (my first IMAX movie). I've never seen picture so highly defined and in 3D! After seeing just the previews, I had already decided this is how all movies -- including TV -- should be! I almost don't want to see anything that isn't in this kind of 3D.
Ok...on with the movie:
U23D was amazing. It really felt like I was at a U2 concert. In fact, you weren't just at the front row or with the crowd, you were on stage with the band! I've been to many U2 shows, own all their cds and dvds, and I've never seen U2 like this. If you're a U2 fan, this is the best way to experience U2 (aside from getting front row tickets of course); it's almost even better than the real thing. Listening to the music with theater surround sound system was also a real treat. The only thing I can complain about is this film was heavily edited, of course. The original concert ran twice as long. If they had included "Bad," I would've given this movie 10 more stars. Bad is best live U2 song ever.
