Review of U Me Aur Hum (2008) by Cherie T — 21 Apr 2008
Surprisingly good film. I knew nothing about the storyline when I started watching so after a relatively lackluster first half - it is pretty and acceptable but nothing new, special or touching- I was taken totally by walloping surprise by the second.
The film tries to bring in more than the element of illness and its effects in a relationship- the whole concept of placing your loved one in a care institution: what issues are thought about, the sense of guilt, etc are evaluated with expected Hindi film conclusions.
The beauty is that the film tries very hard to remain realistic throughout. Love does not procuce miraculous cures although it does make pain bearable!!
I agree with all other reviews that Kajol and Ajay Devgan do very well. All others remain superfluous.
