Review of Tyrannosaur (2011) by Georgios L — 07 Oct 2011
Difficult viewing and some scenes might be offensive to some viewers. However, what is achieved with this raw brutality is that we get closer to the characters, we suffer with them and in the end we root for them even though the film makes it plain to us that they are capable of doing cruel and horrible things to themselves and to others.
The bleakness of the film only lets up in a brief interlude almost in the middle of the film. It is an impromptu celebration after a funeral where the characters seem come out from the shadows a little bit and have a little bit of fun.
This is as cheerful as the film gets before it plunges us into its unrelenting darkness again. This is an amazing film but it is not for the faint-hearted and that's the reason I deducted one star from my rating.
