Review of Tyrannosaur (2011) by Mike H — 14 Oct 2011
Peter Mullan is terrific, but we knew that. Eddie Marsan is superb, but we knew that. I had long suspected that Olivia Coleman might be brilliant, and here's the performance that confirms it. Well done to Paddy Considine for providing the script and direction that allow all three of these tremendous performances (and an excellent supporting cast) to interact and tell a powerful story.
My only terribly minor qualm is that I had no real sense of place. Perhaps that's deliberate and the story is played out against Anytown, but I wanted to know where the film was set.
If you get a chance to see this film at the cinema (I had to write to my local Cineworld requesting that they show it!), please do. It's worth it.
