Review of Tyrannosaur (2011) by Peter B — 22 Jan 2012
Its not an easy watch but its a completely gripping one for sure. Nicely directed by considine with a good script by him too. What makes this stand out and stay with you are the performances. Firstly from peter mullan who is ferocious, unlikeable but then likeable and displays a strange calmness at times too.
But its olivia colman who will bring tears to your eyes (I feel no shame in admitting I got quite emotional with this) as you will want to reach into the screen and give her a big hug. A tremendous performance that feels completely real.
Stay with it even through its darkness and what youre left with come the end is the feeling that youve just watched one of the strangest love stories in film history. It'll stay with you.
