Review of Tyrannosaur (2011) by Colm M — 27 Feb 2012
Very difficult movie to review. Two of my favourite directors are Mike Leigh and Ken Loach because of their ability to portray the British working class so honestly with all the suffering and moments of humour that exist in everyday life.
Paddy Considine has managed to do the same only he has had the courage and fortitiude to portray Britains underclass; the people that live wthin the open wound of the working class. This must have taken a lot out of him.
Bleak, unsettling, heartbreakingly truthful and not without hope. Considine has shown here that he may have the ability to make movies that rank alongside Loach and Leighs although he is taking the gritty realism to another level.
