Review of Tyrannosaur (2011) by Tracy G — 30 Dec 2012
Peter Mullan and Olivia Colman portray two sides of the same coin; both Joseph and Hannah are damaged, but they differ in the way they exhibit that damage. They find understanding and comfort in each other, and this film explores that flourishing companionship with maturity and unwavering realism.
It is punctuated by brutality and emotional turmoil, but it's worthwhile viewing if you're not of a sensitive disposition. Mullan and Colman give a masterclass in acting - Paddy Considine (director) could not have chosen a more talented and capable cast.
Gritty British drama at its finest.
