Review of Tyrannosaur (2011) by Matt A — 10 Jan 2013
From the opening shock scene to the end this is a very depressing film. So why 4 stars? Well its done without compromise. The C Bomb is said plenty, there are some pretty violent scenes, although you don't see much, it is more effective with a 'less is more' approach.
Its not a run of the mill cliche ridden romantic drama, doesn't have a life changing message on redemption. It does what it sets out to do, show you life for some people how it is. Its not all glamour for some people.
Its hard and brutal. It also helps that the 2 leads Peter Mullan and Olivia Colman are just perfect in there roles. Some heart wrenshing performances from both. Not one I'd like to watch again, but one that I'm sure I wont forget in a hurry.
