Review of Tyrannosaur (2011) by Rob L — 14 Apr 2012
As assured a debut as one might expect from Considine given this track record as an actor in similar locales. This is set in the Leeds suburbs although the protagonists are from around the UK. Peter Mullan and Eddie Marsan reprise previous roles -both nutcases, with Mullan's personality leavened by an inner heart of gold and the Londoner yet again beyond sympathy.
Olivia Colman of Peep Show fame is outstanding as a a happy clappy shop owner who ends up on a typical night out in the Yorkshire city and the misrabilism is offset by a finishing coda full of hope. Power is derived by depicting horrible events off screen for the main although it's hard to believe Colman when she says her husband is well thought of by her family.
