Review of Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys (2008) by Sandyboo D — 06 Oct 2008
Tyler Perry is on his way to breaking out of his box and branching out into true filmmaking for sure with this one...he still has a few of his trademarks he can't seem to shake or get over; i.e. the fact that he feels the need to always be one of the characters in the film (let's face it, he's not the best actor and he's taking up space where he could have had a great actor in that role to bring better life to it), over exaggerated situations, overly exaggerated reactions from the characters to those situations, and painstakingly oblivious characters...
However, it made me laugh, cry, & the over all theme and lesson for lack of a better term are always true to life and sincerely inspiring in more ways than one.
