Review of Two Lovers (2008) by Nicolas T — 14 Jan 2010
The new James Gray's movie is not a mafia's or cop story like his others directions but the style remain the same : a tredenmous actor's direction, a beautiful use of the frame, wise choice of the music and greats dialogues.
Joaquim Phoenix delivers a really fantastic and subtle composition. I thought he wasn't very good at his debut when I saw him in "Gladiator" but he has improve a lot since then. I already love his interpretation of Johnny Cash in "Walk the line" but I think he's got there, with Two Lovers, his best interpretation by far.
A really beautiful movie.
