Review of Two Lovers (2008) by Dalma L — 05 Apr 2010
Joaquin Phoenix is just like Giovanni Ribisi. For some reason they are just perfectly capable of playing these men with low IQ, clumsy moves, big heart, and unrealistic expectations. This movie was like last week's How I met your mother episode, "On the hook": Sandra is on Leonard's hook, Leonard is on Michelle's hook, Michelle is on the rich guy's hook.
But of course this interpretation became a little longer and darker. I think that the movie captured real situations and feelings, and the actors did great, but honestly, I don't give a damn about Sandra or Michelle, and I'm especially not interested in poor Leonard's choices.
