Review of Two Lovers (2008) by Nadia D — 28 Jun 2010
Not exactly an original movie, but very well done. The movie most reminds me of James Toback's "Two Girls and a Guy". But this movie is a much, much better story than Toback's version.
Obviously they are not officially related, they just remind me of each other. The acting here is absolutely GREAT. I really liked Shaw in this movie. And Paltrow was as at here best. But its Joaquin Phoenix who makes the movie.
No doubt that Phoenix lost his mind shortly after this movie, or maybe before or during. Anyway he portrayal was great, his character does some rotten things but I really felt for him. As I stated earlier the story has been told before, but is entertaining.
If you are a Woody Allen fan you will love the movie. I had heard that the movie was good but I still wasn't expecting the acting that I got here, a very impressive movie.
