Review of Two Lovers (1928) by E F — 09 Aug 2009
First of all, I think the acting performances are outstanding, from the neurosis of Joaquin Phoenix to the aloofness of Gwenneth Paltrow to the concerned and loving mother played by Isabella Rosselini.
But I didn't feel like the 2 love relationships were fully developed enough to be believable. It was like 2 encounters (relatively unremarkable encounters) became the basis for these deep passionate relationships.
Maybe the timeline is not clear? You get the feel that the events all take place in like 2 or 3 months.
