Review of Two Lovers (1928) by Sandy K — 06 Nov 2009
Another example of a film where I can admire the acting skills of the cast, but dislike the story. OK, so the guy is suffering from depression and you hope he finds happiness... but at what price to the women he loves? (Or does he really "love" either of them?).
And the unattainable object of his obsession is as self-centered and destructive as he. The only characters for whom I felt real compassion were the man's poor parents, doing the best they could to help him find his way.
