Review of Two Lovers (1928) by Breanna M — 24 Jan 2010
If this really is Joaquin Phoenix's last film then its a great loss because he is eerily unhinged in this tale of a man caught between two lives. The two women in his life represent the schizophrenic nature of a man who has a stable, loving family but enjoys the self-destructive risks of living life on the edge.
Gwyneth is also fantastic as the girl who you know is bad for you but 'what the hell'. We all know these characters and this is an accurate portrayal of why so many relationships go wrong. Brilliant.
