Review of Two-Lane Blacktop (1971) by Andrew O — 02 Apr 2008
The more I think about this movie, the more I'm liking it. Not quite sure who the audience is, but the counter-culture style the film offers really sparkles in a gritty way.
Being a Beach Boys fan, it was fun to see Dennis Wilson (RIP) in his bad boy role.
Nicely shot (for pennies) and great engine sound effects (gear heads should love this one); however, the acting is pretty horrendous and the plot line (or lack thereof) may drive some people off the road.
Me? I'm loving it. Will purchase on Criterion if I can find it.
