Review of Two Evil Eyes (1990) by Mark H — 26 Jun 2007
Explanation of the rating: Romero's segment, adapted from one of my favourite Poe storys - The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar - gets 5 stars. It's easily the scariest (not to say best) work Romero has ever done. Even Adrienne Barbeau is good in it.
On the other hand, "The Black Cat" is Dario Argento at his worst: pointless, meandering and badly paced. Harvey Keitel's performance is also rather bad. So this segment gets one star.
So averaging out the two, you get my three star rating.
