Review of Two Evil Eyes (1990) by Sean C — 27 Jun 2010
The reason why I liked this movie so much was because, aside from being a huge fan of both George Romero and Dario Argento, I felt that both made interesting reinterpretations of Poe's stories. I'm also a huge Edgar Allen Poe fan and I know these two stories very well, and as we've already seen them adapted before, I thought it was interesting that the two directors added their own twists to the stories.
In the end the framework is still there. They changed some but not much. It's not like the way Hollywood screws with Phillip K. Dick's short stories. They both had a surreal quality that I like, but I will have to say that I liked Argento's story beter.
In the end I've always liked that Poe story as well compared to the first one.
