Romero's was a little creepy before the corpse started talking. After that, it turned into a revenge tale. Then, the twist ending, with the 'not there' people, which weren't in Poe's story, just made it confusing.
Most of Argento's was all over the place, but his version of 'the black cat'' was satisfyingly disgusting.
