Realistic, restrained but powerful, a wide range of reactions and human behaviours showed, and a very natural performance by Marion Cotillard. You may worry at first about the topic because it is not easy.
But it´s the opposite, you start immersing in the film more and more and rooting for the characters and some others who appear on screen. Fantastic film with small budget. Nothing else needed.
